Happy Wednesday, Escapists! A charming mill next to the rushing river Durdent and close to the sea, near Veulettes-sur-Mer, Normandy, France!
If this property looks familiar, it’s because I featured it back in September 2019! It looks like it’s back on the market a year and a half later, and still as dreamy as ever (maybe it was off market to wait for end of covid?). The village of Veulettes sur Mer is beautiful — green countryside mixed with a sleepy beach town, peaceful and slow, full of pretty little houses and beachfront cafés. An idyllic spot to slow down and appreciate life.
From the listing on Belles Demeures:
In a charming village crossed by the DURDENT, 7 km from the beach of VEULETTES SUR MER, 18th century mill, full of charm, located on the banks of the DURDENT. It was exploited for more than a century by its sponsors. In 1921, its new owner repaired its winnowing systems as well as its wheel, but the mill quickly ceased its activity and was transformed into a dwelling, lit by the electricity supplied by the water wheel. Today, this house full of authenticity with its old thick stone walls offer a very comfortable living environment. You are lulled there by the sound of flowing water. The living room is spacious, with a fireplace, as well as a modern fitted and equipped kitchen. Upstairs, you will find two to three bedrooms and a bathroom. An ideal living environment both as a second and main residence.
