Happy Tuesday! A cozy, comfortable little cottage circa 1904 in the Dutch countryside. Located in the village of Baarland, Zeeland, Netherlands.
Just sharing this little cottage for the gentle, earthy springtime feeling. I wish I could have seen it fully furnished and decorated because the aesthetic of the sellers is so cute! I wouldn’t mind curling up in that oversized armchair on a rainy spring morning with a cup of coffee. The village of Baarland is located right next to the beach, and only 15 minutes from the beautiful city of Goes, and 30 minutes to Middelburg. A sweet spot!
From the listing on Funda:
Atmosphere, experience, characteristic, casual and freedom. All this describes the detached house at Nieuweweg 35 in the picturesque village of Baarland. The house was built in 1904 and many authentic and charming elements have been preserved. The house has a living space of 120 m2 on no less than 550 m2 of private land. There is a bathroom and a bedroom on the ground floor which broadens perspectives. A nice and welcoming house with a fantastic atmosphere and a truly phenomenal view. Layout. Ground floor: We enter the traditional ‘Klompenkot’ through the back door. The entrance exudes an authentic atmosphere through the original doors, the door frames, the sliding window to the living room and the coarse tiled floor. Here you will find the meter cupboard and access to the kitchen and utility room. To the left of the clog room is the practical utility room. Here is the central heating system (Nefit Ecomline 1999), the white goods connection and a lot of space for placing cabinets or an extra freezer. The attic is accessible from the utility room, which is surprisingly large and light. The loft is a practical space for storing things. The toilet on the ground floor has a chic look due to the panelling, the black and white tiled floor and the elegant toilet bowl. Next door is the great bathroom. The bathroom has the experience of Marrakech, hotel chic and casual. What a great look. There is a wide washbasin with 2 copper washbasins, 2 large mirrors, a design radiator and a walk-in shower. The bathroom has electric underfloor heating. The bedroom has a size of 362 x 345 cm and has an unobstructed view over the countryside and a view of the garden. The garden can be reached through the bedroom through the patio doors. The windows and the high ceiling make the bedroom even more spacious. There is room for a double bed and a linen closet. On the right side of the house is the kitchen in a corner arrangement. The kitchen again has a warm and cozy appearance. Just like the bathroom, the kitchen provides a great and inviting experience. The tiles, the composite top, the large oven, the design of the cupboard doors and the view of the garden complete the picture. The kitchen is somewhat lived-in and therefore leaves room for modernization or restoration at your own discretion. Next to the kitchen is the dining room. This can be closed by means of glass and lead patio doors, very attractive. The dining room has a wooden floor, beamed ceiling and views of the front and side gardens. A lovely room where you can enjoy your breakfast or dinner. The living room is again an attractive room with a beautiful view of the garden and traditional elements. Just think of the windowsills, the beamed ceiling, the wide wooden floorboards and the fireplace as an eye-catcher. Due to its design, the living room is easy to arrange. The living room cons gives access to the first floor. First floor: The landing with dormer window which overlooks the countryside, gives access to the second toilet, the bedroom and the office. The office is a cozy room with lots of light. You can place a desk setup here, create a game room, a storage room or a walk-in closet. On the other side of the landing is the large bedroom with a size of 253 x 364 cm (150 cm headroom). Again, the bedroom is characterized by the view and the existing rafters. The surrounding garden with plants, various trees and terraces give a wonderful and free feeling. It gives an idyllic atmosphere. The tulip tree, the large pear tree, the wisteria, various herbs and flowers. You really have to experience the peace and freedom. There is a large garden house on the plot, which is moderately maintained but still offers many possibilities. A house with experience, full of surprising elements and a very nice garden with an unobstructed view! The house is like a warm coat and gives a welcoming feeling. The garden with lots of privacy and the unobstructed view over the countryside complete the picture.
