Happy Tuesday! A cozy and organic house surrounded by fruit trees in the peaceful Portuguese countryside!
The style of house feels a bit like hobbit home meets mountain cabin, and I’m here for it. I’d love to sit in that swing chair and soak in the buttery sunshine and peaceful views for ages.
From the listing on Right Move:
Stone-constructed property on a plot of 2,394m2 with lovely views of the valley and surrounding countryside.
This is a wonderful example of a renovated schist house in a village not too far from Gois, Coimbra. The stone property has 3 floors with great views overlooking a wooded valley below. The property has been renovated using local materials with large windows to take in the great views.
First floor – The entrance door takes you into a large open-plan area that combines the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. There is a wood-burner stove for the winter months that also provides heat for the floor above. The 2 double bedrooms both have great views. This open-plan area shows off the local pine and eucalyptus wood at its best.
Second floor – A pine staircase with open treads lead up to the master bedroom with its “hobbit-like” balustrade and beamed ceiling. The room is full of light provided by its many windows overlooking the village and beyond.
Ground floor – The schist stairs from the main living area descend to the ground floor where there is a bathroom, water heater, W.C., sink and plumbed-in washing machine. There is also a storage area and work room on this floor.
Exterior – Just outside the front door is the bread oven and BBQ constructed out of the local stone. There are numerous fruit trees on the land, which include apple, peach, cherry, orange, plum, pear. At the top of the land is a wooden hut that has been turned into an extra bedroom away from the house.
