French Alps Week! A bar and restaurant business for sale on the snowy slopes of Serre Chevalier!

Filed under Things I Would Rather Do Than Work in Corporate America: owning an alpine bar and restaurant! It seems like this is a place where you could host many happy memories, parties, music, and good times. Sharing this one today since it seems like a celebratory place — happy holidays!

From the listing on Leggett:

The Business….

This is the sale of an established business that is located right on the piste in Villeneuve La Salle…. the largest of the villages in the Serre Chevalier Valley. The building is owned by the local Mairie so the monthly rent is relatively low.

It has a very large terrace that one can literally ski on to and another 1st floor deck that overlooks the piste.
A large part of the revenue comes from the bar which has a party reputation, but the owner has developed the kitchen over recent years and now does very well serving “cafe” lunches and snacks all through the season.

There is a large salle and a smaller TV / dining room where groups can gather for meeting etc. The main bar is very popular for sporting events, apes ski and party nights. There is a stage at one end which is often used by Dj’s and bands.

This bar has proven takings and copies of yearly accounts are available to serious buyers. It is worth noting that Folie Douce will be opening a 1500 bed complex in this village in 2 years time.

The Area….

Villeneuve is the main village at the heart of the Serre Chevalier Valley and ski domain. It is made up of several sectors including the Old Village and Aravet where this busy bar is located. There is a now a massive “ front de neige” that takes up most of the Place D’Aravet which is where all of the main ski schools meet every morning. The square is a busy hub of tourists throughout the winter and the Micky Piste is very popular with beginners as well as being the main “exhibition” slope for high season entertainment, including Santa and his Reindeer, Big Air Shows and fireworks displays.

This business works well but could be improved also. The kitchen menu is simple and reasonably priced but a more comprehensive restaurant could easily improve this side of the business activity.
