Netherlands Week! Historic villa circa 1903 with original stained glass and eclectic Art Nouveau architectural details!
This villa is for sale after being owned by the same family since 1903 and going through one renovation in the ’70s. I would love to see the home restored and original wood gleaming! Turn-of-the-century splendor!
From the listing on Funda:
This beautiful villa has been owned by the same family from construction in 1903 to the present day. The monumental stately architecture-built villa with a rich history, located in a prominent place in the center of Winschoten is offered for sale.
The villa has been built to a design by the Municipality architect Mr. K. de Grooth in a Transitional style with Eclectic, Chalet and Art Nouveau style elements. Many particularly beautiful details have been preserved in the building. It is not without reason that this iconic villa has the status “National Monument”, a house of general interest, because of its architectural and cultural-historical value.
The villa has several stained glass windows, authentic ornaments and other details, which are still in excellent condition. While the beautiful elements have been retained, the interior was also modernized and tastefully renovated in 1979 by interior designer Mr H. Vos from Groningen. The villa is located in the center of Winschoten opposite the station. It is also very well situated in relation to all daily amenities and the exit road A7 to Groningen / Assen and Germany.
The whole has, among other things, the following format:
In the basement there are an entrance / hall (accessible from the Stationsstraat), a boiler room, 2 spacious bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet, a wine cellar, a utility room and various storage areas.
On the ground floor, the living floor, there is a stately entrance / hall (accessible from the station road), with a unique stained glass party, the hall provides access to the stairs to both the basement and the first floor, the toilet, the bright living room en suite (with fireplace), conservatory and kitchen. The dining room has a garden-oriented bay window.
On the first floor there is a landing with two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a double sink, bath, shower and toilet.
On the second floor, which can be reached by a staircase, a landing / hall, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom are offered.
The whole is heated by central heating, is electronically protected, partly equipped with insulating glazing and wall insulation.
The detached garage is accessible from the Stationsstraat; the garden is located around the villa and offers a lot of privacy.
The villa can be described as exceptional. The state of maintenance can be called normal, but it is somewhat dated overall. The building deserves to be modernized, with love and care and preservation of character, to the requirements of the 21st century.
