Historic 1850s Adobe Stagecoach Stop Property For Sale in a small desert ghost town in warm sunny Southern New Mexico.

Situated on approximately 1.7 acres this historic Adobe property was once an integral part of the trade here in New Mexico. With well over 8000 ft.² of adobe buildings, this historic property has housed the old saloon, general store, post office, mercantile, stables and hotel since being established as a Butterfield stagecoach stop in the mid 1800s. The historic adobe hotel structure was elegantly remodeled with sustainability and awareness in mind. The courtyard has a fig tree and a pear tree with many places throughout the property for gardens.
The home includes 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a south facing sunroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, large pantry/laundry area. It has an amazing well on the back of the property, with the ‘best water in the county’ (said by many throughout history) – Heating is by LP and a wood burning stove, Cooling is an evaporative cooler. Constructed with double adobe, the walls measure up to 2 foot thick in places, and keep the place very comfortable. In 2000, The Old Cuchillo Property experienced a devastating fire that destroyed much of the General Store and Game Room areas. Despite this, the bar was able to remain open and serving patrons until 2004. I purchased the bar in 2007, and have since put a tin roof over the damaged areas to protect and preserve the adobe walls. The bar has many of the original artifacts, relics, and can be set up again for display. I currently am doing some repairs on the ceilings in the bar and have removed the items.
