Good Monday morning! A charming brickwork house circa 1850 in a lush green garden, close to Mont-Saint-Michel, France!

This house is so pretty! I can imagine waking up in that bedroom, in a sea of white linen sheets amidst cool green luminescent light. The hearth in the kitchen is wonderful!

From the listing on Patrice Besse:

Situation

At the crossroads of Ille-et-Vilaine and Manche, in a beautiful green countryside and forty-five kilometers from the coast. Region crossed by a major road, the location of this small town is ideal, quiet, close to major cities and not far from the beaches.

Description

At the exit of the village on a small lane, the entry is made by a grid framed by two piles. An old wall closes the property. A departure from an alley in a park lets us discover a fairly large vehicle shelter. Next, a small wooden building shelters a garden furniture. The house facing south is well located in the park which has an outbuilding, set back, and a garage. At the back, a small path goes behind the old wall and a gate opens onto a garden.

The House

Stone construction built in 1850, two-sided roof pierced by sitting dogs with triangular pediment and covered in slate. Beautiful corbelets under framework. On either side of the central body, a small adjoining pavilion, topped with facing brick. The window frames are made of granite stone.

Ground floor

Entrance through a door with canopy, leading to a parqueted corridor, departure of stairs at the bottom for the first floor, toilets. To the right, access to a dining room with marble fireplace, parquet floors. Bright room with view of the park: this is the case for the entire ground floor. Continuously, a beautiful well-equipped kitchen (16 m²), beautiful well-appointed room with a bay opening onto the garden. Access to it by a pavilion door. In the kitchen, a pleasant fireplace on a stone floor.

On the left from the entrance hall, a pleasant 25 m² living room with wood paneling, fireplace and old parquet floors. In a pavilion located to the west, a beautiful independent space with fireplace. (A part is occupied by the boiler room, the boiler of which is new.) This room can be converted into a workshop or even another living space because it could communicate with the living room.

First floor

Access by a wooden staircase with wrought iron ramp. Landing clearance. Opposite, a bathroom with tomette, four bedrooms with parquet floors; for one of the bedrooms a wardrobe and fireplace. Two shower rooms and toilets. The rooms are all bright and have an appreciable surface.

Attic

Continuing from the staircase, a 50 m² space on the ground in one piece. The insulation is achieved and this very bright place is ready to be used as it has always been or to receive two additional rooms.

The park

Coming from the village, the entrance to the property is by crossing an old gate framed by two piers and a wall in return. A circular driveway distributes the land in front of the house, in lawn areas and at the end of the park, a small meadow. Beautiful trees are present and the old wall which encloses the garden enhances the charm of this set. Also, a small pool.

Annex building

A 20 m² stone garage is located at the rear of the house and a small outbuilding is attached to the old wall. In addition, a tool shed.

What we think about it

This attractive house, well built, with a small park easy to maintain, will be most pleasant to live. An extension of living space will also be possible at lower cost, especially in the attic. The area is attractive in many ways, with proximity to major cities. One of the advantages of this house is its location in a small town, where there will be no form of nuisance.
