Happy Bargain Friday! A rustic cave house at the foot of a fortress-castle, on a hilltop village in La Rioja, heart of Spanish wine country!
This village is just gorgeous, it seems it hasn’t changed since medieval times. The countryside surrounding the village is full of beautiful vineyards. To enter the village, one must cross the river Ebro via a monumental bridge.
The origin of San Vincente de la Sonsierra dates back 1,000 years: “It was created in the 10th century as a fortress for the people of Navarre and together with the Davalillo castle it formed a line of defence. The town inherited the chains depicted on the shield from the kingdom of Navarre, which was the ruling power.” (per La Rioja Turismo) Fascinating history!
From the listing on Idealista:
