Happy Thursday, Escapists! Today I discovered a cache of gorgeous and affordable properties in Corfu, Greece – I want to post a million! This one was one of my favorites, for the cozy charm and the stunning view.
This property is located in the protected traditional village of Agios Markos in northeastern Corfu. It’s located within a short drive of the beach. It just seems like the perfect hidden getaway to me! This would be the perfect place for an author who needs inspiration or somewhere for an adventurous family to use as home base as they explore the fascinating island of Corfu!
This beautifully renovated 2-bedroom house in the traditional village of Agios Markos is simply gorgeous and oozes charm and character. Add the stunning views of the surrounding countryside and sea, pretty courtyard garden and spacious veranda and you have the perfect home.
Situated in Agios Markos, a traditional village protected by the Ministry of Culture for its rich heritage, unique Venetian architecture and beautiful historical mansions, this property enjoys a wonderfully peaceful location yet it is just a few minutes’ drive away from the beach, all year-round amenities and only 17km from Corfu Town and the airport.
Access is via pathway (with approx. 50 steps) which leads to the main arched gated entrance. Steps then lead up to the house. There are great external areas to relax or dine alfresco – wonderful paved courtyard with an abundance of trees and shrubs as well as a large terrace offering space for seating as well as dining that is positioned to take advantage of the stunning views.
The house itself offers 85sqm of living space over two levels. Beautifully restored to retain its character, charm and original features, it is being offered for sale with the majority of its furnishings.
The main entrance opens into a spacious open plan area with a wonderful wooden beamed ceiling and open fireplace. Here we find the kitchen, living room and dining area with access out to the large veranda with its amazing countryside and sea views. A traditional wooden staircase leads down to the lower level where there are two bedrooms – the master that has access to the courtyard and a further double. On this level there is also another smaller room with a beautiful old open fireplace that is currently used as a sitting room/study.
