Good Monday morning! Today I offer a pretty period Cotswolds cottage, Grade II-listed, in a perfect village setting.
Cotswolds properties come at a premium, but they are extraordinarily charming! I couldn’t resist this one, for the charming exterior, the amazing garden full of manicured shrubs, and the walk-in hearth, beams, and the preserved character this cottage still has inside.
I’ve been re-watching episodes of Midsomer Murders (recommend for cozy mystery lovers!) which is set in the Cotswolds – I’d love to own a little cottage here, sipping tea and solving mysteries! My Monday daydream 🙂
From the listing on Country Life:
Description – Rozel Cottage is situated right in the heart of the village opposite the church and the famous Painswick Stocks. This Grade II Listed terraced property is now in need of modernisation but retains an abundance of character with exposed stone and beams. With a good sized reception room with inglenook fireplace and kitchen/breakfast room on the ground floor, a vaulted cellar and 2 double bedrooms upstairs, it could either make the perfect Cotswold home for someone or an ideal rental or holiday let. It has a pretty south/east facing garden to the rear and lovely views out over the historic village and church from the front.
Location – Painswick is one of the Cotswold’s gems. Very pretty with a wealth of historic old buildings at its centre it is surrounded by dramatic countryside. Rozel Cottage is situated in the heart of Painswick on a quiet little lane, in a lovely setting overlooking the church. The village which has an inclusive community, has good local amenities as well as places to eat out, notably at The Painswick, just up the hill. It is in a strategic location in the south-west of the Cotswolds, between Stroud and the Regency town of Cheltenham. The former has 4 major supermarkets and a famous Farmers Market, as well as a main line station – London Paddington from just over 90 minutes. The latter has excellent shopping, numerous Festivals (Literary, Music and Science among others) and its well known race course. Access to the M5 motorway is good and London normally under two hours by car. There are lovely walks in the vicinity of Painswick, which also has a challenging 18 hole golf course. Special places to visit nearby, include the Rococco Gardens at Painswick House, with its magnificent snow drop collection.
